All decisions of the committee regarding eligibility for the AZPOA Scholarship Fund are final. Two scholarship awards of $2,500 each will be granted to eligible students who satisfy the selection criteria. Applicants must be high school seniors preparing to enter their freshman year in college in the Fall of 2010 or continuing undergraduate students at the time of application or students who have previously graduated from high school and are entering college in Fall 2010 as their first semester. Students must be enrolled full-time. This Scholarship is not intended for high school students enrolled in dual credit college/high school classes. Funds may only be applied to undergraduate degree programs in community colleges or four-year colleges or universities in or out of the state of Arizona. Applicants must be citizens of the United States.

Preference will be given to students pursuing criminal justice or related majors.  Awards will be distributed upon receipt of the Fall 2010 Tuition Statement. A copy of this statement must be sent to the AZPOA Scholarship Committee prior to distribution of funds.  Scholarship Funds will only be paid directly to the College.  Official recognition and presentation will be conducted at the AZPOA Picnic in the Fall of 2010. If a winning student is attending college out of state, their parent/guardian may receive the award in their absence.

Scholarship Awards

Award winners will be notified by July 20, 2010. Award checks will be mailed by August 31, 2010 to the registrar's office or financial aid officer of the college or university the recipient will attend.  The scholarship award funds will be disbursed by the college or university, and may be used for tuition, books, supplies, campus fees or room and board (only if living on campus).  Under no circumstances will a payment be made directly to the student.  Students will be notified when the award check is mailed.  If a student terminates his or her courses during that semester, for any reason, the undisbursed balance of the award MUST be returned directly to the AZPOA office.

It is the responsibility of the student to follow up on all matters relating to his or her award.
