The recent announcement that Juvenile Chief Probation Officer Vincent Iaria was resigning came as a surprise to many AZPOA members. Read the letter that AZPOA President Lu Ebratt sent to Presiding Judge Norman Davis regarding the announcement.

As many of you are now aware, an IPS Officer was involved in a Friday night  incident in which a Glendale Police Officer was shot and killed.

As you all should be aware by the over 900 paper nomination forms that were disseminated, the time for Executive Board elections is upon us.

Arizona's Public Safety Personnel Retirement System for police officers and firefighters is broken. The people it was designed to serve and who've paid into it religiously at the contribution rate established by the legislature for the last 40 years didn't break it.

Fellow Officers, for the last several months AZCOPS has been involved in various pension meetings to resolve  the status of an obviously unsustainable system. All affected public safety groups are united in avoiding diminished benefits to active and retired members alike.  To that end, involved stakeholders have met on a weekly basis to discuss available options.

AZPOA /AZCOPS leaders recently met with Public Safety Personnel retirement system Administrator, James Hacking, for a presentation and discussion about public safety benefits and the overall condition of the various plans administered by PSPRS.

CWA President Larry Cohen encourages all CWA members to contact their Senators to ask them to vote for S.1611, the Public Safety Officer Employee-Employer Cooperation Act. "We owe that to our first responders and we owe that to the 20,000 CWA public safety officers."
